DRIVING STEEL:Character Sketches




Here are a few sketches I did for Jeff Yang's "Driving Steel" story in the upcoming anthology Secret Identities: The Asian American Superhero Anthology.  Out in stores April 15!

Dominic-Thanks. It was definitely a challenge to create a wide range in the character silhouettes ( as they do in animation ). Need to have that "instant recognition" among different characters.

great bunch of characters, with instant recognition and very nice style. Your inking and greytones work remind me of Toth's "maverick" illustrations of the 50s.

Roberto-Thanks Roberto! I appreciate your comment especially because those Maverick drawings are particularly awesome. I was lucky enough to find a cheap copy of it at a flea market in Pasadena. It's beautiful stuff!
